Abstract

During continuous industrial production process running, the control of some functional disturbances escapes from the existing computer control systems. Then, it becomes necessary to carry out particular research and to develop specific tools increasing running capabilities. We will introduce the approach we used for this type of problem met during the running of a rotary kiln in a cement unit. This work done in collaboration with the Ciments Lafarge Company ends up by the definition of two computer systems.First, the use of data analysis methods, information collection and the choice of sensoring system adapted to the detection of disturbances (coating, rings ...) point out the origins of the phenomena. After the selection of functional actions to conduct the system from a disturbance state to a normal one, we defined two help systems.-The control system includes a disturbance model, computation of some representative parameters and graphic information displays. It allows a fast disturbance detection.-The diagnosis system processes information issued from the plant. The designed architecture allows the implementation ot this tool in other industrial process needing some specific control places
