Abstract

Granular formulations of aldicarb (15%) applied to the soil surface significantly reduced populations of the black-margined aphid, Monellia costalis (Fitch), Monelliopsis nigropunctata (Granovsky), and the black pecan aphid. Tinocallis caryaefoliae (Davis), and also the damage to pecan leaflets. An application of 0.8 lb AI/tree reduced populations significantly more than an application of 0.4 lb AI/tree whether the field dose was applied one time or was split. The most effective date of application for M. costalis and M. nigropunctata was about May I; that for the black pecan aphid was about July 1. No residues of aldicarb or its metabolites were found by gas chromatographic analysis.
