Abstract

Preparation of porous carbons having controlled nanopopres, especially pores in the region of mesopore, by applying catalytic effect of metal compounds introduced in carbonaceous materials is described . First, the effects of transition metal compounds impregnated on carbon materials such as coal and activated carbons and homogenously mixed with carbon precursors are described. In addition, the effects of calcium compounds, which posses strong catalytic effect for gasification of carbon materials, on the preparation of porous carbons are discussed and then pore characteristics of porous carbons prepared by the addition of zinc chloride in carbon precursors are presented.
