Abstract

The article considers the conditions of motor and tractor machinery’s continuous operation in the Arctic on account of fuel system modernization and changes in the composition and type of fuel. We analyzed the low-temperature characteristics of fuel used in motor vehicles operated in the Arctic and the specifics of their operation on different fuels. It is shown that due to additional operations, fuel used in the Arctic is more expensive, and, when operated at low temperatures, vehicles need to be equipped with additional systems (electric heating of filters, fuel stand-pipes, etc.). Special requirements are placed on fuel quality assurance according to the regulatory documentation and manufacturing technology. The requirements for moisture content of gas fuel used in the Arctic shall be more stringent as compared with those in State Standard GOST 27577-2000.
