Abstract

The potential utility of carbofuran against the rosy apple aphid, Dysaphis plantaginea (Passerini), the apple aphid, APhis pomi De Geer, the walnut aphid. Chromaphis juglandicola (Kaltenbach), and the mealy plum aphid, Hyalopterus pruni (Geoffroy) was investigated. Based on the results of field trials conducted over a 4-year period in northern California, it was determined that dosages in the range of 0.25 to 0.5 lb active ingredient per 100 gal would provide excellent control of all 4 species. A dosage of 0.125 ]b active ingredient per 100 gal was effective against the rosy apple aphid and the walnut aphid.
