Abstract

A field test was made in Red Lion, New Jersey, to compare effectiveness of Terramycin® and ethylene oxide against European foulbrood disease. Both Terramycin and ethylene oxide reduced the severity of the disease, but neither completely prevented recurrence. The relative populations of colonies established in equipment fumigated with ethylene oxide were larger than the populations in either the untreated controls or the colony fed Terramycin.
