Abstract

Abstract Potatoes were planted 21 May at the University of Minnesota Agricultural experiment Station, Rosemount, MN. Plant spacing was 36 inches between rows and 12 inches between plants within rows. Treatments were arranged in a RCB design with 4 replications. Plots consisted of a single 12 ft long treatment row. Treated rows were separated by one row of untreated plants. Admire 2F was applied over the top of the potato pieces just before the furrows were covered. Foliar treatments were applied with a CO2 pressurized sprayer fitted with a Teejet 8003-E flat fan nozzle, delivering 60 gpa at 35 psi. For evaluating the treatments, the numbers of small (instar 1-2) and large (instar 3–4) CPB larvae in each plot were recorded. Pre-treatment counts and foliar applications were made 11 Jul. Post-treatment counts of larvae were made 1 d after application. Percent control of CPB was calculated as (1-(post-treatment count/pre-treatment count))X 100. The data were subjected to ANOVA after arcsinV(x) transformation.
