Abstract

Several granule insecticides were examined to determine their efficiency for the control of carrot fly in celeriac. Plant-by-plant treatments with terbufos or with chlorfenvinphos at time of planting were the most effective treatments against severe carrot-fly infestation. Applying the insecticide with a granule applicator at the base of the plant at time of planting followed by a light covering of soil (ridging) gave very good results and can be recommended in practice.
