Abstract
For boiling heat transfer, it is known that some high-polymer solution of 60∼500 ppm density exhibits enhanced heat transfer with decrease in turbulent frictional resistance and surface tension. On the other hand, some high-polymer solution of 20∼30 percent density which is used for heat treatment ehibits the supression of boiling heat transfer. However, the mechanisum of heat transfer supression was not apparent. For the later polymer, a nonionic surface-active agent which ehibits a cloud point, we obtained the feature of heat suppresion by measuring the boiling curve in a nucleate region. By observation near the heated surface, we found the formation of high-density polymer solution near the heated surface, which caused high incipient temperature of nucleate boiling and suppressed the departure of vapor bubbles.
