Abstract

Abstract Fifteen treatments were applied 11 Jul for control of ants at Indian Mound Country Club, Ossipee, NH. Plots were 7 X 15 ft, replicated 4 times in a RCB design. Granules were applied with a salt shaker. Mound drenches were applied with a 1 gal hand sprayer. Two fi oz per mound drenched these small mounds without significant runoff. Dusts were applied with a teaspoon. Broadcast sprays were applied with a CO2 boom sprayer, 8004 nozzles, at 40 PSI, in 2 gal water per 1000 ft2. After sprays dried, all plots were irrigated with 0.1 inch water. Plots were rated weekly. Conditions at the time of treatment were: air temperature, 64.4°F; wind, calm; sky, cloudy, soil temperature, 68.4°F; thatch depth, 0.1 inch; soil pH, 5.2; slope, 2%; soil texture, silt loam, sand, 47%, silt 43%, clay, 10%; soil organic matter, 10%; soil moisture 27.9%; post treatment precipitation, daily irrigation (0.1 inch).
