Abstract

The present research execution deals with control of Hospitalitermes monoceros (termite) common pest of sugarcane, using water and ethanolic extract of medicinal plants including Aegle marmelos, Calotropis procera and Datura stramonium. For execution of present research exploration, specific insects were captured from sugarcane field and acclimatized to laboratory conditions. Thereafter, insects were exposed to water and ethanolic extract of selected medicinal plants for 24 hours. Mortality was reported after 24 hours, in each experimental stock along with respective control. The procured data was analysed by applying Z-test and it was concluded that selected botanical extracts induced statistically significant mortality in treated pest as compared to untreated pests (p<0.05). Furthermore, it was observed that ethanolic extract of selected medicinal plants induced significant mortality in specific pest than control stocks.
