Abstract

This paper proposes a control method for standalone operation of the brushless doubly-fed induction generator (BDFIG) under nonlinear loads. The nonlinear loads could lead to distorted power winding (PW) voltage, which mainly contains fifth and seventh harmonics. The fifth and seventh harmonics can be eliminated by adding harmonics compensation loop to the machine side converter (MSC). And, the control winding current is regulated by proportional-integral-resonant (PIR) controllers. The effectiveness of the proposed control method is validated by both the simulation and experimental results.
