Abstract

Abstract. The subject «Theory of Machines and Mechanisms» is included into the cycle of general engineering subjects and it is one of the most complicated by both the content of the material considered and by mathematical apparatus used while studying. It is explained by the complexity of research objects and increasing requirements to them in terms of efficiency, accuracy and reliability. There are no approaches at present to integral assessment of students’ readiness in the field of Advanced Mathematics and Theoretical Mechanics for studying machines and mechanisms. It is not clear what sorts of knowledge and skills should be mastered by students for learning this subject. There is also no information as for the number of options suggested in one test and validity of the mark obtained as the result of such testing. The aim of the article comprises determining the content of the tasks for checking the knowledge in Advanced Mathematics and Theoretical Mechanics and a probable mark of guessing the answers to the test, that is obtaining nonobjective assessment. In order to solve the research tasks, the following methods were applied: theoretic (learning and analysis of educational and scientific sources) and probabilistic (assessment of the probability of obtaining nonobjective assessment while testing). At the same time while checking the remaining knowledge it is important to provide receiving objective data. In this work it was calculated probabilities of guessing the test task comprising 10 tests. Each test offers 5 variants and only 1 option may be correct. The obtained results state about a rather low probability of receiving incorrect data about the students’ knowledge. For instance, the probability of guessing 6 answers and getting a satisfactory mark states 5,0510m3. That is within 200 students, whose knowledge undergo checking, the number of those who can get a satisfactory mark is 1.1.

«Теорія механізмів і машин» є однією з найскладніших загальноінженерних дисциплін, для її ефективного вивчення необхідно мати ґрунтовні попередньо отримані знання із, в першу чергу, вищої математики та теоретичної механіки. Метою дослідження є визначення змісту завдань для перевірки знань з вищої математики та теоретичної механіки, а також ймовірнісна оцінка вгадування тесту, тобто отримання необ’єктивної оцінки. Запропоновано теми, які повинні бути присутніми в тестах для визначення знань студентів з теоретичної механіки та вищої математики.
