Abstract

This paper outlines the implementation of an energy efficient routing algorithm model for the wireless body area network using the methodology of single source and single sink. This single source and single sink model represents that the communication with any Personal Device Assistant (PDA) by any Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN) nodes would happen only through a particular specified node. This paper deals with the algorithm that is being designed to select one particular node out of all other WBAN nodes for communication with the PDA. This paper also portrays the routing algorithm followed for the medical data transfer by the WBAN nodes which make the nodes energy-aware. This proposed work is carried out on the basis of classifying the nodes either as Active or Passive by ascertaining their energy levels into two different parameters — one the available energy level and other the Reserved Energy Level for a particular WBAN node. The implementation of the paper is based on the usage of this energy level to predict the energy-aware path for medical data transfer amongst the WBAN nodes.
