His book, Listening to Rap, is available from Routledge. Kyle Cassidy’s first music assignment was photographing the Ramones in 1986. Since then his images of musicians have appeared on all sorts of merchandise, including T-shirts, shot glasses, beer koozies, keychains, bandannas, socks, tarot cards, sweatbands and, perhaps most notably, the $1000-per-copy Bed Song Book, which was part of Amanda Palmer’s record-setting 2012 Kickstarter. He spends a lot of time thinking about what’s easy to pack, what’s easy to ship, and what he doesn’t want boxes of piled in his closet. His work has appeared in Vanity Fair, Interview, the New York Times, the Washington Post, SPIN, Pitchfork, the Guardian, and other popular publications.
