Contribution to the thermodynamics of rare-earth binary alloys

Abstract

An outline is given of the results obtained from thermochemical measurements and in phase diagram investigations on selected rare-earth alloys. Heats of formation have been measured for alloys of Zn, In, Sn, Pb, As, Sb, Bi and Te. Phase diagrams of series of rare-earth alloys with Ag, In, Tl and Mn have been studied. The characteristics and limitations of the experimental techniques employed are examined, and the observed regularities are briefly discussed.
