Abstract

Japan is a highly seismic country and there have been frequent damages to infrastructure such as bridges and buildings due to earthquakes. Therefore, securing the resilience of infrastructure corresponding to robustness, redundancy, resourcefulness, and rapidity is strongly required. In this study, the current status and practical countermeasures for concrete structures to enhance the resilience using concrete polymer composites(C-PC) were investigated and discussed. C-PC, which have high strength, high early strength development, and high durability, are effective for repair and strengthening to sustain the current performance of structures, to minimize damage, and to quickly recover design-level performance. Practical application of C-PC for the restoration and reconstruction in Japan is also presented.
