Abstract

CONTRIBUTION OF CHEMICAL PRECIPITATES TO THE VOLATILE SUSPENDED SOLIDS FRACTION OF ACTIVATED SLUDGEThe measured volatile suspended solids (VSS) fraction of activated sludge is assumed to represent the organic fraction of suspended solids. However, mineral suspended solids can also lose some mass at 550C. Experiments were performed on iron phosphate and hydroxide precipitates, which form upon ferric addition into the secondary stage for phosphorus removal. They showed that the precipitates lose...Author(s)Anne-Emmanuelle StrickerJean-Marc ChoubertLaurence VIGNESSourceProceedings of the Water Environment FederationSubjectSession 79: Analytical MethodologiesDocument typeConference PaperPublisherWater Environment FederationPrint publication date Jan, 2004ISSN1938-6478SICI1938-6478(20040101)2004:9L.571;1-DOI10.2175/193864704784132508Volume / Issue2004 / 9Content sourceWEFTECFirst / last page(s)571 - 586Copyright2004Word count222
