Abstract

The quality in the presentation of the educational material in combination with the personalisation of the educational process in a distance learning environment have been and still remain open issues. This is due to the fact that, on the one hand, the educational material has to be incorporated into the new artefacts and, on the other hand, the educational process should change in a dynamic way, according to the user profile category, the current performance of the student, and the requirements defined by the teacher. In the present paper, the steps which have been made towards the above-mentioned directions, in order to develop an ethno-oriented learning methodology of Russian language by Greek students are presented. More specifically, we focus on Russian motion verbs, using multimedia tools for the achievement of an optimum presentation of the educational material. At the same time, students' behaviour is monitored in real-time, and we try to define to what extent the training material has been understood. In this way, we are able to decide what category each student belongs to, what he knows or ignores and, finally, how the educational process must continue.
