Abstract

This paper discusses the end of the novel ʿawdat al-ṭāʾir ila l-baḥr by Halīm Barakāt, published by Dār Al-Nahār in 1969. The title clarifies that the return takes place after the ending, and is therefore a temporal concept that follows the conclusion; the events of the novel take place within this closed circle. Since the ending is deemed a temporal concept, this paper aims to study the temporal techniques used by the author in his novel, which were employed to create the desired ending.
