Abstract

Health information system (HIS) implementation in the hospital is a large challenge due to its high cost and the majority of projects resulting in failure. There are very few detailed, systematic studies of Oncology Information Systems (OIS) implementation in Radiation Oncology. This case study examines two different implementation practices of the same OIS at two hospitals. The purpose was to identify the critical factors and strategies for success, understand the impact of different approaches on the radiation oncologist clinical practice and identify subsequent advantages or disadvantages in the health care delivery.
