Abstract

Two separate groups of rats were subjected to bilateral ablations centered in either the anterior or posterior part of the septum. Across several different types of thirst motivation tasks the rats sustaining posterior septal injury were inferior to controls. In contrast, the anterior ablations always enhanced performance.
