Abstract

It is pointed out that the problem of testing whether the data are compatible or not with a fully specified probabilistic model may be reduced to the problem of testing for uniformity a suitable transformation of the data. By embedding the uniform distribution into a new family of distributions, easily tractable, a Bayesian test for uniformity is presented, which there fore constitutes an altemative to classical model checking.
