Contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) is generally uncommon. However, patients with risk factors such as pre-existing chronic kidney disease have a higher risk of developing this condition. In this article, Victoria Chan, Matthew Gibson and Mobin Mohteshamzadeh explain the effect of a prevention protocol, established at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, which aims to reduce the risk of the condition.
