Abstract

Advanced filters are described for preparing magnetization in imaging. They are based on combinations of different filters for introducing combined parameter weights—including spin diffusion weights—and on multiple-quantum coherences. Exploitation of spectroscopic dimensions for generating contrast in imaging is addressed as are possibilities for generating contrast by temperature variation, electric fields, and contrast agents. The principles of contrast in imaging were treated in Part I of this series (Concepts Magn Reson 1998, 10, 19–31); basic contrast filters were discussed in Part IIa (Concepts Magn Reson 1999, 11, 71–87). ©1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
