Abstract

A 60-year-old man with best-corrected visual acuity of 0.8 in both eyes presented with recent onset persistent metamorphopsia in the right eye. Evaluation with automated contrast (preset value of 12) with OCT device (Heidelberg Engineering, Inc) revealed stage 2 vitreous detachment and a flattened fovea (Fig A). Contrast was adjusted using the slider provided in the device (values 0 to 16) while accessing brightness and contrast adjustment. A contrast of 16 was used to increase contrast between different components of low-signal structures (Fig B), which revealed a foveal vitreomacular adhesion that was previously missed (white arrow) (Magnified version of Fig A-B is available online at www.aaojournal.org).
