Abstract

Bile duct injury is a common complication after hepatobiliary surgery, but may also occur in post-traumatic patients. Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial to prevent long-term morbidity. We present a case with a liver laceration and biliary leakage following a gunshot incident, which was demonstrated on MR cholangiography using gadoxetic-acid-disodium (Primovist). This liver-specific contrast agent provides excellent demonstration of bile leakage as well as the intrahepatic bile tree, being a safe, non-invasive and accurate technique for contrast-enhanced cholangiography without use of ionizing radiation.
