Abstract

A technique for the subtraction of the contralateral contribution in lateral lung radio-nuclide imaging using gamma camera and computer is described. Its use in phantom studies and in patients with a variety of lung function disorders is described. The method is shown to successfully correct for both attenuation variation and contralateral contribution and enhance visualisation of defects. The potential clinical usefulness of the technique is discussed.
