Abstract
The US District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, on January 14, in a lawsuit brought by Pennsylvania and New Jersey, issued a nationwide injunction enjoining enforcement of two final rules granting exemptions to the requirements of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act as to health plans covering women's preventive services (the contraceptive mandate) (Pennsylvania v. Trump). The Women's Health Amendment, a provision of the ACA, mandates that insurance providers cover preventive health services and screenings for women, without cost‐sharing responsibilities. A summary of the interim final rules, also enjoined by this court in 2017, is in the December 2017 issue.
