Abstract

259 women who were instructed in the use of a gel (Lanesta-Gel) were followed up after a total of 3250 months of continued use. Among them there were 21 unplanned pregnancies or 7.7 pregnancies per 100 years of sexual exposure. 199 of the women were satisfied with the use of the gel alone and were still using it at the time of their last contact with the program; 178 used it for 13-24 months. These women considered the gel to be a simple and convenient method of contraception.
