Abstract

The history of hysteria is that of a powerful repression that spans the centuries. We know from Freud that the plasticity of hysterical symptoms is historically determined. We will discuss the targets of this repression in the contemporary social bond. The treatment of hysteria by the current discourse is the paradigm of the disintegration of the social bond, while it overcomes the links between individuals of a given society.
