Abstract

On the basis of continuum damage mechanics, the crack-tip field and the equations of the field intensity factor are derived, the angle distribution curves of the stress, strain and displacement fields are given and these curves are compared graphically with the corresponding curves of the Hutchinson, Rice and Rosengren (HRR) field and the linear elastic field. It can be found that the effects of damage on crack-tip fields are important, the singularities of crack-tip damage, stress and strains are of the orders −(γ−1) (γ+1) , −1 (γ+1) and −γ (γ+1) respectively and the results reduce to the linear elastic solutions as γ=1. The equations of field intensity factor are solved and their solution gives the variation of field intensity factors with a loading parameter.
