Abstract

This paper presents an application of the continuous-time model parameter estimation for monitoring a continuous-time electromechanical system. The continuous-time model of the system is expressed as second order differential equation. The parameter estimation method uses the combination of the Poisson Moment Functionals (P.M.F) filtering technique and the ordinary least-squares (L.S) method for estimating the modal parameters of the system vibrating process. The simulation for monitoring the considered electromechanical laboratory-scale system has given good results and has shown that the PMF-LS estimation method pennits to handle the derivative terms occuring in the continuous-time model easily and directly without direct model transformation as the conventional method and hence it pennits to detect quickly and accurately an abnormal system behavior.
