Abstract

The shape and asynchrony of contraction of the cardiac ventricle make the determination of myocardial contractility difficult. A number of possible measures have been suggested and it has been found that a selection of estimates gives the best overall picture of the efficiency of the myocardium. The estimates used are all derived data from left ventricular pressure, aortic pressure and aortic flow and velocity, either singly or in combination. A parallel hybrid computer program has been developed to permit the continuous estimation of the required variables. The output data is available either on a beat-by-beat basis, or by using an analog implementation of time weighted statistical variables as an automatically updating mean and variance. La forme et l'asynchronisme de contraction des ventricules cardiaques, rendent difficile la détermination de la contractilité du myocarde. Pourtant, plusieurs types de mesures ont été proposés, et il apparait que la sélection d'un certain nombre de variables suffise pour avoir une bonne appréciation de l'efficacité du myocarde. Ces variables sont la pression ventriculaire, la pression aortique et le flux aortique. Un programme a été mis au point sur un calculateur hybride qui permet d'estimer en continu les variables utilisées. Ces données sont disponibles soit sous forme brute, au fur et à mesure de leur arrivée, soit sous la forme de variables statistiques pondérées. Telles que moyenne et variance, mises à jour de façon permanente.
