Abstract

Holder continuous dependence on the initial data is established for a backward in time problem in nonlinear viscoelasticity. Both the one dimensional momentum equation and its multidimensional counterpart are studied. Since the initial-boundary value problem for each equation backward in time is ill-posed, a logarithmic convexity argument is employed to obtain these stability results.
