Abstract
Reversible nerve blocking procedures should be considered in the management of pain due to cancer which fails to respond to more conventional methods. Two cases are presented illustrating the use of continuous interscalene brachial plexus block for the relief of intractable metastatic bone pain in the upper limb. This technique, using local anaesthetic, afforded patients the first effective pain relief for months.
