Abstract
The features of the Greek Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Continuing Professional Development (CPD) model in obstetrics and gynecology are reviewed and the type of educational activities that fulfill the prerequisites for granting CME credits are reported. The Greek approach to CME/CPD is mostly based on professional self-regulation. The National Medical Societies of the discipline together with the University Departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, the private sector and the National Health System select the topics and coordinate the scientific activities. Sponsoring reduces the cost for individual participants, although funding can occasionally be a problem. Finally, novel approaches to improve the current CPD model in Greece are discussed.
