Abstract

The article deals with the peculiarities of organization of space in a newspaper macrotext about a continuing crisis situation in the modern weekly newspaper Sunday Telegraph. Focal / background / precedent types of space are singled out and defined. Focal space is the epicenter of depicted crisis events. Background space consists of the spaces where the events accompanying the main crisis ones take place. Precedent space is a kind of space of precedent events and situations which are distant in time from the focal ones. The research determines the impact of language representation of space on the interaction of articles within the newspaper macrotext. Attention is paid to the markers that verbalise special parameters as well as provide the unity of textual, communicative and extralinguistic dimensions of newspaper macrotext.
