Abstract
This is a protocol for a Cochrane Review (Intervention). The objectives are as follows: To examine the efficacy of antidepressant treatment alone, psychological treatment alone or combinations of the two in the continuation and maintenance phases in the reducing the risk of recurrence or relapse following successful acute phase treatment of depression in adults aged 60 and over. To perform meta‐analyses on study data, if appropriate. To determine the adverse effects and acceptability of antidepressant and psychological treatments given in the continuation and maintenance phases. To examine reasons for withdrawal from treatment To determine the relative efficacy of the different treatments
