Abstract

Planning for a disaster or untoward event is usually the last thing on people’s minds in an ART unit but unfortunately it is a reality. Identifying possible risks and implementing plans to address or mitigate these is now considered best practice. This presentation will outline potential risks and strategies to assist in managing unexpected events. The focus will be on creating a risk register, developing plans, and creating scenarios to aid in training staff in dealing with adverse events. The goal will be to create an awareness of untoward events or natural disasters that have had an impact on ART clinics around the world and how people have adapted practices to ensure patient, gamete, embryo, staff, and equipment safety.
