Abstract
Continguity factor measurement of tungsten-tungsten spheroids in heavy alloys is important for understanding their mechanical behavior. In the present investigation, 90 W-10 (XNi) (X = Cu, Fe, Cr) heavy alloys were sintered at 1500°C for different periods from 0.5–2.0 h. The binder composition was changed from 100% X to 100% Ni at intervals of 20% by mass. The results showed that, with increasing nickel content in the binder and/or sintering period, the contiguity factor decreases for any heavy alloy composition. The results are discussed on the basis of liquid phase sintering mechanisms.
