Abstract
Interoperability of learning scenarios is a critical factor. A variety of initiatives have developed specifications and standards for e-learning. For the description of Content, Learning Object Metadata (LOM) have been widely adopted. In the field of management standards, especially SCORM and IMS Content Packaging have grown in importance. They enable users to package contents and share, distribute and reuse them between different learning management systems. However, several steps are necessary to implement these standards in an efficient way. This article introduces LOM, the Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) and IMS Content Packaging and explains the use of application profiles for a context specific reuse of e-learning resources.
