Abstract

Performing a parental role is one of the elements of human life and begins when a child comes into the world. Parental attitudes depend on individual qualities and resources of a parent and a child, the network of social relations, the conviction about the importance of the parental role and the level of the identification with this role. Changes experienced by the contemporary family have their consequences in the shaping of new parenting which includes both the elements of change and tradition.
