Contemporary Chinese Cinema: A Chronicle of Events: 1978 - 2000

Abstract

After a ten-years-long Cultural Revolution (1966 - 1976), China entered a new age. In the Post-Cultural Revolution Era, Chinese cinema made great progress, after a long period of suffering. Contemporary Chinese cinema usually refers to the years after 1976. Actually the new Chinese cinema had started a bit later in 1978. To help readers understand how the new Chinese cinema has developed since the year 1978, this chronicle of events in Chinese cinema: 1978 -2000, is presented.
