Abstract

Geotectonic setting of the ophiolites on the Balkan Peninsula, beside intensive research, is still remains partly unknown. This is especially valid for tectonic contact of the Eastern Vardar ophiolites with Europe derived units on the east. The main aim of this work is to give a contribution about geotectonic setting of Eastern Vardar Zone and the Serbian-Macedonian Massif through gravity modelling of Ždraljica ophiolites in central Serbia. The resulting gravity model shows that Vardar units are still remaining below units of the Serbian-Macedonian Massif, and that they are not completely consumed through subduction process.
