Abstract

This paper investigates consumption pattern of rural and urban households in Afghanistan. Over the years, the economy has undergone significant structural shifts. Millions of households have experienced dramatic welfare transformation causing substantial changes in the consumption pattern. The main objective of this research is to assess which factors effect on income of households in Afghanistan. And to analyze the important elements of these factors on household income in Afghanistan since the level of incomes in this Country including rural and urban areas differ vastly. The required data was collected from the central statistics office (CSO), ALCS survey, and SFSA 2017. There is quantitative evidence that rural areas are better off than urban areas on a number of different measures, such as unemployment and crime, but there are substantial differences within rural and urban areas. In a few respects rural areas are worse off.
