Abstract

In today’s hyper-connected world, nutrition advice seems to be everywhere—but not all of it is reliable. With so many sources and opinions, consumers are unsure who they should rely on for competent advice about integrating food and nutrition into a healthy lifestyle. Consumers also need reliable information on therapies and practices that are safe and appropriate for particular diseases, health conditions, cultural or religious preferences, or complex dietary requirements. W. Phillips is certified nutrition support clinician, certified lactation educator, and division director of clinical nutrition, Morrison Healthcare in St George, UT. P. A. Tuma is senior director, government and regulatory affairs, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Washington, DC.
