Abstract

Based on a declaration by US President John F. Kennedy in 1962, the world con­sumer movement (CI Consumers International former IOCU) stipulated in co-ordination with the evolution or sometimes even revolution of the national and global economic market the following eight basic consumer rights: The right to satisfaction of basic needs (access to market); The right to safety; The right to be informed (transparency); The right to choose (free choice); The right to be heard; The right to redress; The right to consumer education; The right to a healthy and sustainable environment.
