Abstract

The interest in knowledge acquisition systems has especially been emphasized by the recent development of domain independent expert systems. The paper presents a method for automated organization of knowledge bases using the constructive formation of theories, starting from unstructured knowledge. The method has been developed in connection with the system Inkas (Interactive Knowledge Acquisition System), a project for a domain-independent knowledge acquisition system currently in progress at Institute for Computers and Informatics in Bucharest, Romania. Domain specific knowledge bases prepared by the INKAS system are supposed to support various implementations of our operational domain independent expert system Intexp [3].
