Abstract

In the field of construction industry, the research work has widely focused on identifying key performance indicators (KPIs) and critical success factors (CSFs) without assessing the impact of conflict environment factors. There is a lack of research on the organization performance in the post-conflict environment. This study focuses on the effects of post-conflict environment factors on construction organization performance. This article explores the relationship of post-conflict environment and organization performance to formulate success strategy in a post-conflict condition. This article presents a performance predicting model comprising the impact of post-conflict environment factors on construction organization. The proposed framework of this research consists of four stages: identify post-conflict environment impacting factors, determine KPIs, assess CSFs and adopt the best strategy to improve performance. Analytical hierarchy process and multiple linear regression modeling technique have been used to analyze quantitative and qualitative variables obtained from the literature and expert opinion through a comprehensive literature search and survey questionnaire. The study finding suggests that top twenty factors from the survey have a critical impact on the identified five performance measures. This study examined 51 local construction organizations performance initiated between 2001 and August 2016 in Afghanistan. This research contributes to cover the lack of research on the organization performance in the post-conflict environment. The developed models will benefit organizations in assessing their performance in post conflict situations.
